Ego and architecture
This apartment’s concept is rooted in the psychological idea of self-transcendence, which views excessive egoism and lack of empathy as key issues in today's youth. Reflecting this notion, the space is intentionally designed not to serve itself or act as a statement of the designer’s ego, but to focus entirely on its user.
In doing so, the space itself embodies the idea of looking outward—prioritizing empathy over self-centrism.
Here, furniture seems to vanish at first glance, as the apartment itself functions as an integrated, multi-purpose living environment. A versatile stage, crafted from carpentry elements, serves as both storage and a hidden bed compartment when not in use. Its design features a series of boxes with lids that can be raised to act as backrests. Along the walls, a modular system of tables and chests can be reconfigured to suit the user’s needs, with the chest doubling as a bench.
The kitchen, too, is unobtrusive; when not needed, it can easily disappear behind folding panels that cleverly doubles as a projection screen. This design offers a flexible and empathetic living space, prioritizing the user’s experience above all else.
